Best Time to Trek

The recommended months are December, January, February. These windows offer the most stable weather, safest trail conditions, and best mountain visibility.

Winter (December–February): Snow conditions define the experience. Cold temperatures, shorter days, and icy trails require proper gear and winter trekking experience. The reward is dramatic snow-covered landscapes and virtually empty trails.

Conditions

Month-by-Month Conditions

December: Early winter. Snow begins above 3,000 m, thickening through the month. Temperatures: -3°C to -10°C at camp. Trail is mostly defined. Shorter days (sunset ~5 PM). Fewer trekkers — quieter camps. Good for those who want snow without extreme cold.

January: Peak winter. Heavy snowfall, often waist-deep on the summit ridge. Temperatures: -8°C to -15°C at camp. The hardest month but the most visually stunning — pristine snow-covered forest, frozen meadows, and the best summit panorama. Requires proper winter gear (-15°C sleeping bag).

February: Late winter. Snow remains deep but days lengthen. Temperatures: -5°C to -12°C at camp. Trail usually well-packed from January traffic. Good balance of winter spectacle and slightly more manageable conditions. Best value month — crowds thin after the January rush.
